Screening for Glaucoma, Cataracts, and Macular Degeneration
Glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration are eye conditions that can lead to vision loss or even blindness. Glaucoma is a condition in which pressure inside the eye is too high and causes damage to the optic nerve. If left untreated, glaucoma can lead to vision loss and blindness. A cataract is a condition in which the lens of the eye becomes opaque. A cataract compromises vision by causing colors to appear faded, blurry or double vision, light halos, sensitivity to bright light, or difficulty with night vision. Macular degeneration is a condition in which the central part of the retina (or macula) wears down and becomes thin. Macular degeneration can cause blurred or reduced central vision. Regular screenings of these conditions, especially for those at risk, are key to early detection and management to preserve your vision as much as possible.
